Some agricultural developments during the Jin Dynasty include cross breeding and crop selection. Some other new agricultural ideas/inventions include private parks and gardens, machines for irrigation, food processing, and transportation, and new selections of refined sugars were introduced. In craftsmanship there were many new inventions such as the invention of earthenware (pottery made from clay and then fired) and the invention of the first porcelain. Architecture develope as architects made temples. Also Daoists helped with the development of chemistry and alchemy. Also medicine became a part of Chinese science during the Jin dynasty. Some medical inventions during the Jin dynasty include acupuncture, pulse diagnostics or symptoms, and modes of action related to drugs. The calculation of Pi, calculating the distance of stars, and determining segments of a circle were just some of the Mathematical and Astronomical developments during the Jin Dynasty. The artwork of the Jin dynasty mostly consisted of sculptures and statues. One of the most famous artists of the Jin Dynasty was Gu Kaizhi, whose work was used for education. A new time of art during the Jin Dynasty was known as calligraphy (decorative handwriting).
